We had a fun afternoon today at our Dodgeball Challenge. It was nice to be out of the office for a while hanging with some of our students. Today's Champs - 'His Ballerz" - Congratulations !!

Early Morning Send-Off

I met with a group of our students this morning who left for SonPower in Orlando, Florida. During their week they will be participating in mission activities, worship arts, and music rehearsals - all which lead up to a recording session at the end of the week for the "Are We There Yet" youth musical. Please keep this group of Northisde students and leaders in your prayers - I am looking forward to hearing some great stories when they return.

Life Alert Needed

I had the bright idea yesterday I would join the P90X workout group here on campus. Little did I know yesterday's workout (my first one) is considered the "mother of all workouts" - 1 hour of Plyometrics. I made it through with vomiting but really regretted eating that cheeseburger for lunch.

The good thing about my new found efforts to get in shape - I get my body moving and better health is always a plus. The downside to this whole P90X workout - I started while my wife and kids were out of town. This morning I could barley get out of bed - being alone in the house - I could have used one of those alert necklaces to inform someone I need help!

2011 Graduation

We celebrated our High School & College Graduates during our weekend services. It's an exciting time for each student as they make transitions into College and the work force. Next weekend we celebrate with a dinner for graduates and their families. I am looking forward to a more personal celebration to honor the grads. I have to admit after realizing it was 20 years ago that I graduated High School I am feeling the age gap - but it is a privilege to be my age and still be hanging with students.

This week brings our family to the end of another softball season. The girls played really well this season and learned more a lot more about the sport. Closing ceremonies after the weekend - then Summer kicks into high gear!

The LIFE Book Movement

I made an exciting commitment today with the Gideons International. Over the Summer our Student Ministry will be preparing for the Life Book Movement which will kick off this Fall. The Life Book Movement is an innovative strategy to reach students with God's Word.

Our goal? 5000 copies of The Life Book to distribute to Northside students. They, in turn, saturate their school campuses with the free copies of God's Word to distribute to their friends.

The video above is a great introduction to this ministry opportunity. Learn more about the Life Book Movement here.

One of Those Days

You know the kind of days I'm referring to - days when life seems unfair. Days when it seems like the whole world is against you. What is it that keeps you from giving up? The video above is a great reminder of the kind of love God has for each of us and the hope we find in His love is that nothing can stand in the way of it - it's all consuming.

Take a moment to view the video above. It is a great reminder that life will throw us curve balls. At times life isn't easy and there surely are hard days. But that is only half of it - the love God has for us means we will never be defeated by the world and the challenges that come our way. We can overcome anything the world has to dish out because through His love we are "more than conquerors".
